A REAL SHANK OF A NIGHT

First Impressions:

The car park was quite empty, which raised a few alarm bells, but upon entering the Herdy, you realise how big the place is. A large central dining room, 3 smaller function areas, a big front sports bar and a good sized TAB make up this impressive venue. The decor is a bit outdated - the carpet looks like it might have been salvaged from Burswood Casino after they upgraded and its been a while since we've seen a buffet style beaumarie as a central feature to the main dining area. Nevertheless, the place seemed friendly and active.

Settling In:

Once we got to the front bar, an annoucement was made for the next ticket for 'Chase the Ace'. Good signs we throught.

We proceeded to get ourselves a high table and stools close to the stage and big screen.

The Food:

The winter special 'Lamb Shanks with winter vegetables' was the popular choice. Unfortuanetly, it didn't deliver. The shanks were clearly pre-cooked and reheated, drowned in gravy and the vegetables were not fresh - hence the cheapish $30 price tag. All other food ordered by the group seemd to be OK.

Overall Score: 39/60

Sport Viewing - Very good. Footy on big screen, Ashes and Billabong Pro on another two screens. 7/10

Food - Disappointing. If you're gonna advertise something, make sure you get it right. 3/10

Beverages - Ok. Superjugs for $22 good value. No Guiness on tap. 6/10

Atmosphere - Not much happening until the death metal band started when a few randoms wandered in. 6/10
