THE BOAB PROVIDES SHELTER

First Impressions:

On approach to The Boab some of us were dubious about where we were heading, but we needn't of worried.

We headed straight for the front bar and dining room, both had a good ambience and seemed lively with locals having an after work drink. Once we stepped out into the beer garden, we we're a little blinded by the sea of fluro yellow - but everyone was friendly and there was genearlly a good vibe.

Settling In:

To our surprise, we were able to jostle ourselves into a great spot spot right in front of big screen. Once we got ourselves to the bar to buy a couple of rounds we noticed the Beer Stock Exchange board.

The Food:

We all spent an average of 22 minutes studying the menu before we ordered. Good array of options but no standouts. Franky had the 'Mates Tasting Plate' to himself, which seemed like the winning dish of the night. The rest of went for various cuts of steak and BBQ ribs.

Overall Score: 38/60

Sport Viewing - Good, but no sound. Other sports on inside. 7/10

Food - Pretty good. Steaks were cooked well and good portion sizes. 7/10

Beverages - Love the stock market prices - the more a beer sells, the cheaper it is. 8/10

Service - hit and miss. One girl was really helpful but another not so. Food was brought out in stages. 6/10

Atmosphere - FIFO type crowd until 8pm then it gets lively with some of the locals. 6/10

Punting - can't access easily from pub and one of the TAB touch screens was broken. 4/10
